Every gift, honored
Donation & Donor Policy
Last updated: February 2026
Every gift — a few dollars or a major commitment — is a trust (amana) we take seriously. This policy explains how donations work: taxes, Zakat, recurring gifts, and refunds.
This is a template prepared for the website redesign. Al-Maun should review and adapt it with legal counsel before publishing.
Al-Maun Neighborly Needs is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 32-0087926). Donations are what keep donated meals moving, the pantry stocked, and neighbors housed. Thank you for your generosity.
1. Your gift is tax-deductible
Al-Maun Neighborly Needs is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN 32-0087926). Your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Unless stated otherwise at the time of your gift, no goods or services were provided in exchange for your contribution. Where a gift does include something of value (for example an event ticket or item), we will tell you the deductible portion. Please keep your receipt and consult a tax advisor about your situation.
2. Zakat & Sadaqah
You may designate your gift as Zakat or Sadaqah. Zakat is distributed only to eligible recipients and purposes in accordance with Islamic guidelines (for example, feeding and supporting the poor and the wayfarer), which is at the heart of Al-Maun’s work. Sadaqah and general gifts support the full range of our programs. If you would like your gift used for a specific program, just let us know and we will honor that intent wherever possible.
3. Recurring gifts
Monthly and other recurring donations are a steady lifeline for our programs, and you are always in control of them. You may pause, change, or cancel a recurring gift at any time by emailing almaun@gmail.com or calling (702) 647-2500. Changes take effect before your next scheduled gift.
4. Refunds & corrections
Donations are generally non-refundable, but we never want a mistake to cost you. If you made an erroneous or duplicate gift, or were charged an incorrect amount, contact us within 15 days and we will promptly review and correct it, including issuing a refund where appropriate.
5. Donor privacy
We respect your privacy. We never sell, rent, or trade donor information. Payment details are handled securely by our third-party payment processor and are not stored on our servers. For full details, see our Privacy Policy. If you prefer to give anonymously, let us know.
6. How your gift is used
Gifts to Al-Maun stay close to home, funding neighborly needs on the Historic Westside: food and nutrition, education through Nisaa’s Academy, our CHANCES reentry program, youth development, and community programs. We steward every dollar carefully and strive to keep the maximum share going directly to the people we serve.
7. Receipts & records
You will receive a receipt for your donation for your tax records. If you need an additional or year-end giving statement, contact us and we will be glad to provide one.
