In loving memory

Sister Nisaa Seifullah

President & Co-founder of Al-Maun Neighborly Needs

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

“To Allah we belong, and to Him we return.” — raḥimahā Allāh, may He have mercy on her.

For more than twenty years, Sister Nisaa Seifullah was the organizing heart of Al-Maun Neighborly Needs. With Imam Fateen, she founded it in 2003 to formalize what Masjid As-Sabur had long done by instinct — answer the door when a neighbor knocks. As its president, she turned compassion into logistics: pantries stocked, warm meals served, families kept in their homes, young people believed in. Muslim and non-Muslim alike, no questions asked.

She lived the meaning of the name

Al-Ma'un is the chapter of the Qur'an that measures faith by the smallest kindnesses — feeding the poor, caring for the orphan, never turning away the one in need. Sister Nisaa spent decades making those kindnesses real on the Historic Westside: one table, one box of groceries, one neighbor at a time.

She measured faith not in words, but in whether you showed up for your neighbor — and she always did.

Nisaa's Academy

The classes Al-Maun runs through Nisaa's Academy carry her name — and will keep carrying it. Every lesson taught there continues the knowledge and care she gave so freely.

A charity that does not stop

There is a mercy in the way she built things to last. Every meal Al-Maun serves and every neighbor it lifts is, in shaa Allah, an ongoing charity — a sadaqah jāriyah — written in her book long after her return to her Lord. Her work did not end. It was handed forward.

Please make du'ā for her

The greatest gift we can offer her now is du'ā. Please remember Sister Nisaa in your prayers — ask Allah to forgive her, have mercy on her, and raise her among the righteous. If you carry a memory of her you'd like to share, the Al-Maun family would be honored to receive it.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهَا وَارْحَمْهَا وَعَافِهَا وَاعْفُ عَنْهَا

O Allah, forgive her and have mercy on her, give her strength and pardon her. Make her resting place a garden of Paradise, and grant her the reward of every neighbor she fed, healed, and lifted — and comfort all who loved her.
